Inspired by Georges St-Pierre. His logo is on the glove and there is also his headband. Instead of the Chinese lettering next to the red circle, I replaced with it 23 for the birthday boy’s age.

A friend of mine ordered this cake for her boyfriend’s birthday, I am also friends with the birthday boy, as part of a surprise party she had planned for him. He is a film major at Cal State Los Angeles, so it was only fitting to have a film theme for his cake. My friend sent me ideas of what she wanted and I adapted it into the cake. It was a yellow cake with fresh strawberries in the filling. Red and black  was the color scheme, and his favorite colors, with fondant accents around the cake and a figure of a camcorder and film reel on top.

Here is my second Ni Hao Kai Lan cake order, the concept is similar to the first one I made and is still super cute. However, this time instead of having a toy figure on top, I made Kai Lan’s face out of fondant to place on top. Also, you’ll notice that Kai Lan’s friends are added around the cake. The entire cake was edible, covered with fondant with fondant accents.

I’ll admit I’ve watched a few episodes of Ni Hao Kai Lan, and I can see why it’s so popular. It’s cute and you learn a little bit of Chinese. Now only if they’ll create a cartoon with a Vietnamese girl so kids can learn some Vietnamese.

Remember when iPods didn’t exist? How about when CD players were our source of on-the-go music playing? Remember the times when boomboxes were the source of portable music players? This was a red velvet boombox cake that was ordered for a birthday. I didn’t make it to resemble a real boombox, because I wanted to make it look cute and playful. The color scheme was blue and purple on black though you might not be able to see the purple too well in the pictures. Working on this cake really did remind me of the years during my childhood when I had a boombox to listen to music on and sang along with in my room. I wish I had kept it in good condition to save to this day, goodbye old boombox of mine, this cake will be my constant reminder of the good old times with it.

I made this cake for my cousin’s son who turned 1. We had a little get together and the main theme of the party was Wolverine so it was only fitting to make a Wolverine cake. Inside was a three-layer neapolitan cake, and it is probably one of my new favorite flavors, not just because of the mixture of flavor but the color is pretty. After making an Iron Man cake last year for a friend’s birthday, this is another comic book character cake to check off my list!

This also happens to be one of my favorite cakes I’ve made so far.  It is Victorian-inspired and everything was hand cut.  The last time I made roses were out of gum paste for a Mother’s Day cake.  I decided to make roses for this cake, but this time I used fondant.  Inside was red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting because us girls love red velvet!

This is my first order of the new year, and it was for New Years Day too.  Just a small order for a friend of a friend who was driving up to Stanford to see his girlfriend and wanted to bring her cupcakes.  He asked me to make the Disney characters I had made previously and added Chilly Willy the penguin if anybody remembers that cartoon from way back when.  He originally wanted only six, but I threw in an extra two for him and his sweetheart.  Hope you two enjoyed them!

I’ve been gone for a while it seems, but I’m having personal health issues I’m dealing with so I didn’t take any orders throughout October and will not be taking orders this month either.  However, this was an exception for me as I made these cupcakes as a gift.  As you can see, the theme of the party was Mickey Mouse and his friends.  The decorations are edible and made of gum paste that I hand cut individually and put together.  While I was working on these, I really wanted to go to Disneyland, especially since the holidays are coming up and you can expect to see wonderful decoration throughout the parks.

If you’re not familiar with this cute character, her name is Kai Lan.  If you’re familiar with the cartoon, Dora the Explorer..this is very similar to that cartoon.  When kids watch this cartoon, they get to learn some Chinese as they would learn some Spanish from watching Dora.

My cousin had asked me to bake a cake for her daughter, Alison’s, 2nd birthday.  At first there was supposed to be a party but plans changed and instead of a party, some of my cousins and I went to her house to hang out and have some food.  Inside is red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, now who doesn’t love red velvet?

Unlike the Super Mario themed cake I made, I didn’t make the Kai Lan figure.  Why?  I figured that the 2-year-old birthday girl would appreciate a toy much more.

As with all the other cakes I’ve made, I enjoyed making this one just as much.

It’s been a year since I’ve been making cakes for friends, family, and contacts of my friends and family.  It’s been a good year for me I must say and I’ve gotten better and better after each cake I’ve made.

This cake was inspired by the Super Mario game that is widely known with the little Italian plumber Mario.  I tried to recollect my memories of playing the game to create the cake.   The entire cake is edible, inside is a yellow cake with fresh strawberry filling.  It is covered with fondant and has fondant accents.  I decided to make Mario and Toad figures to go on top of the cake, and I enjoyed making them.  This cake was one of the best cakes I’ve ever made, also one of the cakes that I enjoyed making very much.  It wasn’t a big cake so I didn’t have a lot of space to add details, I wanted to add more but didn’t want to overdo it.  However, I think that the end product turned out perfectly.
